PAINT IT (NOT) BLACK
While working with HueGroup on their color products, they asked me to also be involved in a project with their client, James Hardie. They sell home siding in a variety of colors unique to each region. HueGroup provided JH with their expert color knowledge and back-end applications to anaylze color data and images.
There were multiple components to this project with two main obejectives: help customers to make appropriate color choices for their homes (by providing tips, predefined palettes, visual aids and encouraging experimentation) and allow JH to anaylyze what colors customers are viewing and selecting. My role was UX and visual design, working with Merge Design, who created a great new site for James Hardie. The new color features needed to fit seamlessly into the site, so it required input from everyone.

VISUALIZING YOUR HOME IN NEW COLORS
Created a way for customers to experiment with different colors on home renderings similiar to their own. Users can select a style home, choose a main color, add accent and trim, then additional colors for roof and bricks. There is an option to select from various defined palettes, clarification on each color and general advice from the experts. Each color palette can then be saved and compared to others or shared with family and friends.
DASHBOARDS FOR JAMES HARDIE
All the information from customers' color searches, favorites and final choices is collected for James Hardie to analyze in dashboards. There is focus on market data and user data.
